Definitely playing The Missing: J.J. Macfield and the Island of Memories because I have been putting it off for a month and I won't last any longer. Not sure what else but this one is my first.

Finally done with The Missing. I have mixed feelings about it. Maybe I was expecting too much. It's an important story told through bits and pieces of texts, chats and dialogs that feel like they were written by a 12 year old. The gameplay itself is entertaining enough but seems rather pointless. After I spent almost 20 mn trying to line up a series of tricky jumps (as a head) to collect 10 donuts in order to get a few more text messages, I gave up on the collection aspect of the game and just played to finish the story.
I enjoyed One Step from Eden waaaaay more than I thought I would. I'm usually not into card games but this one was damn fun. The Roguelite elements really do bring a dynamic to the game I really liked.

I went back to the February thread where it was suggested and this is what Moony said about it:
just someone (= a person) e. g. another player or an enemy but not spikes, lasers, stones or animals
No reference on whether or not it's permanent; I didn't think it meant perma-death, but I guess we'll have to wait for Moony or Sam to specify.

I don't know how useful it is anymore now that Steam itself lets you sort your library by tag, but there's also a website that lets you do it: https://www.lorenzostanco.com/lab/steam/
It does allow sorting that Steam doesn't though, like sorting games by what tags you don't want. Like, you want to see all of your Mouse Only games but you don't want any of them to be HOGs, etc...

Hi and welcome to the event.
The game looks fine to me. I have added it for you to the current event on the event page too. We use that to track all the achievements and play time and to distribute the invite only GA links to everyone who qualified. You can log in there using your steam account. When you are finsihed with your games just change the status on the event page to beaten/completed. Then we can check it and approve it.
Some general things:
If the game has no achievements, make a screenshot of the end credits or finishing scenes so we can verify that you've beaten the game.
If you have idle time, put it to the time before the month, since we try to get clean times for the leaderboard ;)
The comment here in thread is basically so we can contact you if something is wrong with your game entry or if we have questions.

With games without clear ending we usually go with average HLTB time (non available) or 25% of achivements for it to count as beaten. Dreadnauts has 30 achivements so 25% are 7.5, so 8 achivements should be enough to beat the game. You can of course play it further if you like :)

Once this is played you can take part with normal backlog games that fit the theme (Alien: Colonial Marines would fit under games where someone can kill you). No problem, samwise84. I deleted several old games I won here on SG (from the time when I entered every draw without any criteria), and I was unable to reactivate on my Steam account when I tried to recover them (like Rive, which for some reason no longer appears on my support page, and when I try to buy it on Steam to try to 'fix the problem' the message appears that I already own the game).
I know that my account here at SG is irreparably broken, but I hope that I can continue participating in BLAEO (even without participating in the monthly giveaways).

These are the 14 games that i cannot reactivate in my steam account (even with the help of support): Abrix 2, Its your last chance in new school, Rive, Space Pilgrim E I (it's free now), Sleengster, Brain in my Head, Piximalism, Korablik, Bloodbath Kavkaz, Offroad: VR, Gridberd, The Grandfather (also free now), Hell Quest and PippiStory.
As I was not able to solve the problem directly on Steam (many of these games no longer exist on the store), I already thought about asking the users who gave these games to delete the giveaway, but some of these giveaways gave 10,000 keys, so... it would be "impractical".
But no problem... I just went back to participate to try to reduce my backlog (and have some fun). Seriously, :)

This month I played Path to Mnemosyne and Kathy Rain which both of them have female protagonists. To be honest I didn't enjoy the puzzles of the first one but Kathy Rain is a great game so far. I am looking forward to finish it today.

Samwise84, I want to thank you for all of this. I feel guilty about not being able to play my wins, as life gets invariably in the way. But this gave me an excuse, a motivation, a goal, and now there is one less game not played.
I played Dandara, and had a good time despite the horrible, terrible, impossibly broken mouse controls. Really, I think they are the worst I have ever seen. Still, I'm very glad I played the game. Thanks!!! I hope I'll be able keep doing this in the following months.

I know that it's a bit late for May ideas (noticed only just now that themes are submitted 2 months in advance since I never looked at it, sorry), but I think Mothers theme could still be included – it's Mother's day in May and they are some of the most (if not the) important people in our lives. So games with mother as a character or featuring in the story would be applicable in that case.
Following that,
- Father's day is in June. Games with fathers as characters or featuring in the story.
Other ideas:
- Archduke Francis Ferdinand was assassinated, which ultimately led to World War I. Treaty of Versailles was signed in June as well. So something to do with WWI, events that escalate to bigger conflicts.
- Barbarossa and Overlord started in June. Should be plenty of games which include those events.
- Magna Carta. Something to do with law, fair trial, judicial system.
- Valentina Tereshkova became first woman in space. Games with female protagonists in space.

Sadly the last update to this comprehensive list is from 2018 amd it's far from complete, but Neocore and Sunward Games has some more known games.

Does getting killed by non-humans fit for the "getting killed by someone tag"?
I played narita boy and you can get killed by digital entities. It's not spikes or other non-living objects, but since they are non-humans, i figured it's better to ask.

I'm planning to play first 2 seasons of Sam & Max this month. I just realized the games are listed separately for each episode (101, 102... etc) in my library. Should I add them to the website the same way (11 games total) or just as packages (2 seasons)?

I think it doesn't care, as long as the website recognises them in one or another way (for example, the blaeo website recognises them just as 2 packages, not as 11 different games). But this is just my 2 cents :)
Btw, the logic of the gameplay is sometimes pretty senseless, like in many p&c games, but the humour of the dialogues is just amazing :D

I was just wondering out of curiosity really, though I guess most WW2 games would fit under historical anyway. I don't have any unplayed wins at the moment, and only two Steam games left to play and neither are WW2 related, just thought it was an interesting theme.

I did it! I marked the game beaten on the site (not sure whether to pick "beaten" or "completed" but since I didn't 100% it I went for beaten) there should be a cheevo visible for that on my profile, if you need some additional proof I got like a milion screenshots from the game :D what a magnificient speciemen that was! I really regret playing it in such a rush and not having a chill experience sailing through it but hadn't I rush it I'd probably still be in SEGA HL wasting yen on UFO catcher :D and I bet it'd take me over 200 hours to see the end. One thing for sure I'll be back to it to run some substories I missed, maxing out both Kiryu's and Majima's buisnesses and maybe even trying max it all out with a 100% comp list and then beating it all again on Legend!

haha, yeah, thanks, but I don't think so. New league in PoE started mid April and if I wasn't already doing PAGYWOS I'd be already on it :D Also I have a bunch of assignments that are PAST due because I was playing Yakuza to finish the event instead of focusing on my responsibilities :|
And honestly the whole ordeal was much too stressfull! Truth be told the main reason I even went on with it in a first place was that a few months back my close friend got himself yakuza and started yapping how awesome it was. Then it turned out a bunch of our other friends have also played it and were huge fans so I ended up kinda out of the loop. When I suddenly won it I knew I had to play it and beat it asap but living with myself my whole life I knew I wouldn't be able to do it without a looming doomsday clock over my shoulder so I signed in. In the end it wasn't entirely fun and I wish I didn't have to rush the game so much. Maybe something more like "Spring is a play a game you won on steamgifts season" would be more appropriate for me :D Especially for those longer titles. But who knows, maybe June or July? If I'll have somethin fitting the themes and with a "main + extra" hltb time under 20hrs I might try again ;)

Just keep in mind: if you have any playtime or achievements obtained before event start, you need to add them in "Stats before the start of the event" on the website.

Basically what SpiderDen said, though of course there are some more rules to follow.
First up the game should be a win (normal backlog games are only allowed if you have played all fitting wins, since this event is about giving those wins some love ;)).
Then of course the game must have been played in the corresponding month, e.g. you can't enter games that have only been played in prior months.
We use the following event page too to track all the achievements and play time and to distribute the invite only GA links to everyone who qualified. You can log in there using your steam account. When you are finsihed with your games just change the status on the event page to beaten/completed. Then we can check it and approve it.
If the game has no achievements, make a screenshot of the end credits or finishing scenes so we can verify that you've beaten the game.
The comment here in thread is basically so we can contact you if something is wrong with your game entry or if we have questions.

That's the main reason I want to join :D I've been trying to beat all the games I've won here for some time now (I'm half way there already :) ) So I figured it'd be more fun to do it together :)
Okay, I've added two games. For the one I finished (beaten and completed are interchangeable?) I've added the idle time I had before April. The rest I left empty as it will update automatically, right?

Yes, the total played time and achievements should update once the site updates, "Beaten" is for completing the game's storyline/campaign/etc "Completed" is for unlocking all the achievements, if the game has no achievements pick the one you like best.
Also it's perfectly fine to add a game for which you have unlocked even all the achievements as long as it meets the rules, people do it all the time, for example if only after completing the game you found out it has a happy ending (or otherwise fits the month's theme) it's fine to add it (just don't forget to add the time/achievements to the "stats before the event" if applicable)

Great to have you then. The difference between beaten and completed is rather simple. Beaten means you have finished the main story (usually with an ending achievement in most games), therefore you have beaten the game.
Completed means you go for all the achievements in a game.
For games without achievements a game is beaten when you reach the end credits (take a screenshot then) and is completed if you reached every ending or gotten all in game achievements (if it has any). Though here we can't really check, unless we want to buy and play all games, so we have to trust in the participants to be honest here 😉
The playtime/achievements will update once I trigger it (usually sometime around midnight CET).
And yes you can submit previously started games. We usually say as long as it is not 95% finished we are totally okay with that. In case you are not sure if it is okay, just ask.

Who can participate
Anyone who does not have any unactivated wins, multiple wins or a VAC ban. You can participate even if you don't have any SteamGifts wins, see the "Have already completed all your wins?" below as it applies to this scenario too.
Extra Rules:
If it gives you one bundle of games with one steam ID then it depends. Do they each have achievements of their own (including an ending achievement)? Then go ahead and play them separately. Though make a note in the notes section, so we know what to look for. Non achievement games or games that play continuously (e.g. all entries play through without an ending between them) are not allowed atm since we do not have a good way to track them separately.
