The Electric Boogaloo is a dance style that became meme-ified to denote crazy sequels, as popularized by the 1984 film Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo. While we are not break dance battling here, it is kind of like a screenshot battle and hence, the "screenshot boogaloo".

John Madden Football?
Nope! But it is in the same genre... Well... Sorta?
Looks like that Olympics game on the NES, the moment when you throw the javelin a bit too high and knock a UFO out of the sky. Track and Field was it?
Yup. You've got everything right!
I think I promised to post this one at some point. ;j
Hint 1: was a reader's write-in game in Your Sinclair.
A reasonable guess, but this one's protagonist is quite a bit smaller.
Added another screenie and a hint.
Pixy The Microdot II
Following your hint that "...protagonist is quite a bit smaller" I was looking for a "ZX Spectrum" (the color pallet gave it away) game where you play a dot/pixel (and/or "fish enemies" heh), but couldn't find it until after you posted the second image.
bomberman 2 (SNES)??
Another screenshot added.
Two more images added
and another two
Oh my, you have to be right! I love/hate this thread - when I think I know the game, it always ends up to be some other game. This has to be Alien Breed.
Yes it is indeed - "Alien Breed".
The third image was enough for me. I played it a lot back in the 90s :)
Nah, Belmasv got it.
Looks like Quarantine to me, but I can't figure out why it looks like a tilted photo, as I can't find it anywhere besides as a regular video part of the game's intro.
Yup! The tilted photo is from the game over screen ;)
As I won't be able to post a new screenshot anytime soon - I pass my turn.
Since nobody took the opportunity yet, I'll just use my turn:
...sorry, I'll see myself out
Another screenshot added
and another one
Shogun: Total War?
Sword of the samurai?
I'm pretty sure it's Brutal: Paws of Fury.
We have a winner!
The first 2 screenshots suggested an adventure game to me, but the last 2 made it clear it was a 2D fighting game of the DOS era. Luckily its name comes pretty early in alphabetical order, so I found it rather quickly on MobyGames. :P
Note to self: start from Z, or is middle out going to be a better strategy... :D
Definitely, next time go with a game starting with M or N! 🤣
Dr. Langeskov, The Tiger, and The Terribly Cursed Emerald: A Whirlwind Heist
Correct! That was a quick one :D
Forgot to do the basic "does google image search knows this" check ? :P
No, I actually didn't do an image search on this. I remember it from my playthrough about a year back.
I did do a reverse image search + I searched for the soda names and none of them produced any result, so props to Blando for remembering it. 👏👏👏
Then I guess it's the personalized results at play, as for me it shows directly, without even changing the automatically filled search word.
Oh, FFS! 🤬
I long ago stopped using Google Images for that purpose, as Yandex kicks its ass many times over when it comes to reverse image searching. Guess this is one of the rare cases in which Google still performs better...
I always check "Nail'd it!" trinity: Google images, Yandex images, Tineye.
Resident Evil 3: The Movie - The Videogame De-mastered?
No to whatever that is.
New image up
SimCity (the very first one)
and this is where the first image was taken from
Guns. Lots of guns. (this video is NOT related to the game in any way)
Added another image
Yep! 1 / 2
Those clothes and particularly that color could only be from the Atreides!
Nice game. Beat it many times back in the day :)
Oh man, i loved that game. Can't count the number of times i beat it.
hint: this game is played with only one key
hint 2: Maybe this cult game is too obscure?
new screen and hint
Striker! obscure doesn't come close there, hehe
some more proof:
Yup, Striker it is... one of the many sport simulators developed by Cult Games :)
It was great fun when I was 12!
Compared to the Commodore 64 version, the ZX Spectrum version looks like it was made for a calculator (which is why it was so hard to find, and likely why people did not make guesses) & they are only one year apart.
another image added
That jester looks a lot like this jester, so I'll go with Simon the Sorcerer II: the Lion, the Wizard and the Wardrobe.
That is correct.
HINT: this game got a sequel 25 years later.
HINT: it is a puzzle game.
Also: this game is not by Apogee and there's no shooting in it.
As much as I love that game, I am afraid this time it isn't Loom.
This reminds me of many games so I'll just guess one of those.
No, I'm sorry.
Master of Orion?
And no, sorry. New pic up in few minutes.
No, not that.
Commander Keen 3?
No Vorticons around here, sorry.
No need to shoot in this game. Hint up in few minutes.
The Guinness World Record for the longest wait for a videogame sequel belongs to Wasteland 2 (26 years). It seems like finding the second longest wait with 25 years between the original game and its sequel is an easy thing to do but I can't find anything except Beneath A Steel Sky, the waiting of which took also 26 years. So, just to be sure, this is not Beneath A Steel Sky, right?
It must be the third wait, then...maybe XD. Not Beneath a Steel Sky, nope. Third pic added.
Not the third for sure. Apparently, there is also Streets of Rage 4 (26 years since Streets of Rage 3). xD
Also, I have found one game with 24 years between the original and its sequel (or rather a "spiritual successor") - Mutant League Football. There are shining stars in menu screen and skeletons...so, maybe? They don't look similar to your screenshots to be honest. And no games with 25 years so far. :(
No, it's not that one. I added another hint.
Star Control 2?
No, it's not that one.
Just to clarify: did you mean a proper sequel? Or a remake/remaster?
I mean a proper sequel - it is likely less known than the first game, though.
OK, thanks. Still no idea, though. :P
Kid Icarus 1986?
No, but MjrPITA got it.
It's "The Fool's Errand".
How do you do this? This is insane. xD
I searched through every damn list and video I could think of. This 'sequel' is so niche that it is absent even from this mega list. The original game is very old (for me, anyway.) I was born years after its release, so no way for me to know about it other than google it up. No claims against the author, just ranting about boogaloo's difficulty in general.
Don't get me wrong, it's fun to learn some classics, I'm just frustrated about hours of searching this game and not guessing it. To be fair, I was relatively close after last hint when I looked for "puzzle games 1980". There is a huge list on Google and I looked through some titles for sequels, but haven't looked up this one yet (it was there.)
As the first image got way too many hits of incorrect games & the 2nd/3rd images giving nothing similar, came in the hints.
I ignored the 'sequel' part and just searched for "80s puzzle video games":
Ah, so I was on the same trail as you were after the last hint, but you were quicker. Fair play. :)
Of course, this is correct. I'm sorry this turned out to be this hard, this game was fairly known in most videogames communities I was in, I thought it was pretty easy in the "old" section. It's even Top Dog at HOTU! I didn't want to raise frustration. Sorry everyone! And congrats MjrPITA.
No worries, it was a good one. I have problems guessing every game here even when I'm trying really hard. It was like the 20th unsuccessful time or so. Some of them I even played many years before. I just can't believe I am so hopeless and cannot guess anything. xD
Lands of Lore!
Poor Baccata, he looks injured...
Yep. That was faster that expected - by your extended answer it looks like you've played it?
Yup, several times. Was actually thinking about posting this as my next game.
Good guess but nope.
Indiana Jones Raiders of the Lost Ark?
Nope, not Indy.
Yup! Rick Dangerous it is!
That HAT. xD
Butt, what do you mean? Hehehe
Much too new, I'm afraid. This one's quite a bit older.
Soz, MjrPITA got it.
Yup. that's the one.
That levitating figure in the upper half of the picture looks intimidating.
Another image added
Forth image added (yes, they're all from the same game).
Yes, it certainly is!
No special skills were involved, only "Master of Orion" similarities search...
Added 2nd image.
Relying solely on the UI in the top-left corner: "Jet Li: Rise to Honor"?
and now I'm sure that it is:
How do you do this?
Edit: Yeah, I was thinking of this game too based on PS2 artwork of the OP in Steam.
First image's too dark for search engines to recognize anything in & I didn't come up with any keywords that got me anywhere, so I waited.
Second image just gave me tons FPS games, especially Counter Strike. Tried looking up the cafe in the 2nd image, to no avail.
Finally noticed the UI in the second image to be similar to the first one, so I looked that up, wasted too much time on that & started again... lo and behold, just feeding the second image to google gave an image of a different scene of the game (attached).
For the scene itself, I just looked up any long-play to find proof of that Cafe, and it looks like I found the same video LagiNatoRRR used for this entry.
That's a deep research! Or mostly my "laziness mistake"?
No proofs needed, I guess...
Oh, wow. You really know how to play this. I was looking through PS2 games with action/crime tags.
Once I already guessed that, bought it and now found just on 1st Gimage page.
Did it autofill the game's name or did you do it? Because for me, my cropped image gets defaulted to "old-growth forest".
...and of course knowing the game first hand helps a ton :D
No-no, it was a work of my brain... and fingers...

The Amazing Spider-Man (2012)
This one took some tricks to be found...
This is seriously neat.
Fantastic. This is some very clever detective work. Apparently, you know really good how to use search engines properly.
Here's something I found out after the fact:
Yandex lets you crop the image within the search itself, so I did not even have to do it manually - just click on its preview and resize the thing o.O
Yep. Guess, I need more non-mainstream shots...
New image added.
Sir, You Are Being Hunted
My brain got a point again:
Was the second image even useful?
ONLY the second image was useful - my brain cells somehow remembered that pier from 2 tries of walkthrough...
Sir, you are correct.
Eat this, search engine!
Added cold 2nd dish.
Metal Gear Solid 2?
hahaha Metal Gear Solid 4?
Almost looks like Hitman but I don't think that's right.
Too sweet to be truth...
system shock 2?
Too old to be it...
Sorry for the delay, Yandex was fooled for 3rd time.
Rebel Galaxy Outlaw?
Distant Star: Revenant Fleet?
Nope, ExpiredWaffle got it. It was Star Wolves.
Hint: Released before 2010.
Is it RiME?
New picture added.
I guess this was tougher than I anticipated. New picture added.
That wouldn't happen to be Limbo of the Lost?
Nope, but I've seen worse guesses.
Nope, new hint added.
Maybe some Harry Potter game? Let's say Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
Nah, not licensed.
New picture. We're so close, I can feel it.
Alright folks, I've just about exausted all screenshot options. That is why we're going to try something a bit different for the next clue.
I will start off by answering one yes-no question. First come, first served. Be sure to reply to this comment.
Does this game have sequels/prequels/remakes/other installments?
I still don't have a clue what it might be then. Maybe someone else will crack it.
Alright, lets do two more yes-no questions. One per person please.
It's "Looney Tunes: Acme Arsenal"
Well done! All the pictures were from this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qlwL4UFAjLQ&ab_channel=%E2%98%85WishingTikal%E2%98%85
How did you manage to find it? Image search or good ol' fashoned detective work?
I've spent way too many hours on absolutely no related image search results & only found it with keywords & checking lots of obscure licensed games. Ended up finding it here: https://www.thegamer.com/licensed-games-fans-pretend-dont-exist/
Then verified using the same video you linked it looks like.
With those kind of scores, no wonder nobody covered the game, for us to find anything.
Nice job finding that article! I looked myself for something modern mentioning it, and nothing came up.
I found the game in a bargain bin around 2009. The campaign was bad, but the local battle mode was quite fun with a friend. I got my $5 out of it.
