You're lucky, I have played lots of one-hand games, I call them "smoke games" because that's what I play while smoking. Hope you can use the mouse with your left hand.
Here's the latest I played:
Galaxy Burger
Ship, Inc.
Disco Elysium
Mini Metro/Motorways
Coromon
There is no Game
Cogs
Slay the Spire
Vampire Survivors
Fights/Knights in Tight Spaces
FTL
The Room
and basically every graphic adventure and visual novel ever made

Everything you say is very beautiful. I enjoyed reading and I'm very happy about how your life has improved. The end is still to come, but I'm sure you'll make it. I can only send you my best wishes and hope that everything goes great and that you and your family can fulfill all your dreams.
Thank you for sharing your life experience with us and thanks for the train.
I recommend point-and-click games and visual novels, Detroit Become Human for example. Hugs.

That's good to have plan for the future, I really do wish you and your family the best in hopefully fulfilling that. Hopefully you hand heals quick, I know it really sucks when it happens to one of you limbs, hands or feet. You move them a lot so you try to do movement naturally with them and you just forget they are broken and damn it hurts lol Not fun at all.
Some really fun games I've enjoyed that are very minimal movements is Balatro, Vampire Survivors and Coin Push RPG.

Congrats on making it this far, that takes a LOT of bravery and sacrifice. I was working 60 hours a week until my son was 15 months. For me it was hell to be apart from such an amazing human. Luckily took off work to find something better and now spending time with him just makes me sad for the lost time, but gotta live in the moment!

This is really cool of you and a nice gesture, but for one-handedness, it needs some trimming.
examples to remove:
Thief Gold (stealth game)
Brothers (needs you to move both sticks independently and simultaneously)
Tea Party Simulator (haven't played this one, but it looks like being difficult to control is a core mechanic)
Owlboy (a flying platformer that was hard for me with two middle-aged hands)
I would agree that they're all kind of relaxed, though. Nice category.

tea party sim is just mouse controls, made for one hand
bothers i did with one hand xbox 360 controller moving both sticks independent with one hand
Thief Gold used joy2keys to rebind the controls for one handed play. that was like 3500 games ago sooooooo its been a minute and i dont recall the details
owl boy was a mistake add...... OWL give you that one
if i recall you need mouse and keyboard for that one

all the best to your little family and get better soon...
as for left hand only games, there are always classics like this https://www.crazygames.com/game/robot-unicorn-attack , its variants and and similar games :)

I didn't see it mentioned on the first page, but Brotato is a one-thumb game and it's one of my most played games ever... similarly, Vampire Survivors and about half of the who r/SurvivorsLikes / Bullet Heaven genre is left-thumb only, but the other half has button triggers for things like dash and special attack.
I think the other responses (speed reading) made mention, but almost any deckbuilder or turn based game should be playable, because the non-real time action gives you time to put the input with your good hand... Time to bust in to the new game Word Play? Balatro? Buckshot Roulette? I can nerd out on some deckbuilders, but don't have specific recommendations for turn-based tactics, just my gaming preference.
Baaaah... adding... He is Coming... this made me think, if you're going to be trying to a bunch of rando recommendations for games that might not be your usual style, it's a good month for a Game Pass trial... most of what I mentioned is on GP

Depends on your devices. I know V-Tuber with paralysed hand, who plays Souls-like games because one of her friends made specific device for her leg. Here's video he shows device: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ivKjV4Y_0Jo
You can switch subtitles to EN. Don't hesitate to ask your questions if they will be not too clear

Sorry about your hand but glad to hear everything else is going well. Have a bump!

I have a whole list of one one-hand friendly games:
https://store.steampowered.com/curator/42956114-one-handed-gaming/
Most are puzzle games. Some are action games. Use a controller with two bumpers (ie switch style) and you can map the upper and lower bumper to whatever the main action button is in games. Some side scrollers just need two buttons, like super win the game.
Or if you really want to go hardcore but cheap:

This guy has a channel where he talks about his life gaming after having his right arm amputated, so similar to your problem, he can only game with his left hand. Might be fun to check out his other videos too, but this one he specifically talks about how you goes about pc gaming:

Hello, most of the games I've reviewed in the past 1-2 months are one handed games. Also lots of those in my perfected games list as well. I'm lazy or always tired to play through complicated or big story games, so I've been playing lots of minimalistic/simple mechanic games recently. I've sent friend request as well, you can ask me about specific ones if they interest you. Most of those games are also what I call Hidden Gems, so they might be little old, but good games to pass the time. I also have ones I haven't reviewed or completed yet that have fairly good mechanics and I still have tons more to play that have been sitting in my library for a long time.

Hey guys! I hope you're doing great. I enjoy reading other people's thoughts and experiences, so I thought it would be nice to be the one sharing for a change. Of course, if you're not particularly interested, that's fine too. The link to the small train is at the end. :)
About 2 years ago, I opened a fundraiser because I was in some deep debt, mostly medical stuff related to my wife's delivery. A few smaller debts were my fault, since I was never taught proper financial decision-making. I was very depressed and those were pretty rough times. However, quite some time has passed and... we're still working on it, but things are going really well.
Yeah, raising a baby is pretty damn expensive—especially one who, for some reason, loves to poop about 3 minutes after he just got his diaper changed, lol. We're working really hard. My wife is doing an excellent job with our toddler, teaching him things every day and making sure he's growing as healthy and smart as possible. I've been working night shifts and weekends for almost a year to provide for them the best I can.
We're succeeding big time, because Aaron is the loveliest toddler I've ever seen! Beautiful smile, loves to hug and kiss us, shares his toys with everyone, and his flirtatious little look melts everyone.
The best part about killing my brain cells with night shifts is that the debts I had with five different entities are now down to just two, which is pretty damn great. It’s taken a lot of time and effort, but it's been so worth it—especially because I've learned a ton of things (the hard way, of course). I'll make sure to teach them all to mini-me so he doesn't make the same mistakes I did. Hopefully his mistakes will be cooler, like messing up his own rocket or something.
Right now, I’m dealing with a small speed bump. I broke the side of my right hand a couple of weeks ago, so my income has dropped a bit and some new costs have popped up—but it's fine. I got some much-needed rest, had time to look for new jobs and attend interviews, and got to spend more time with my baby.
The only issue is I haven’t been able to play much during my free time. I’ve mostly been watching other people play online, or reading a visual novel here and there. But yeah, 'gaming' with just my left hand is not very fun, lol. Maybe you guys know of a game that's simple to control but still fun? I’m open to suggestions.
My plans for the next few years are pretty simple:
Within 1 year, we’ll move to a better apartment and I’ll finish paying off my remaining debts (and when I do, I'll celebrate with an awesome train!).
In 2–3 years, I want to buy a car, get a fish tank, and finally get a Steam Deck so I can play more than two hours a week.
And maybe—still under discussion—within 5–6 years, we’ll move to another country.
I’ve always dreamed of living in Norway, but my wife’s a bit afraid of the language barrier. She’d prefer somewhere like the U.S. or Canada. We’ll see how everything goes.
So overall, I’m feeling good—motivated, job-hunting to see if I can get paid a little better (and sleep like a normal human again), and working on being the best version of myself while enjoying the little things in life. Maybe that’s why I’m writing this and making my first train ever in the first place. It’s been a long and difficult journey, but at the end of the day, I wouldn’t change a thing. And if I make it to 70 and still remember anything from this time, I know I’ll feel proud and probably wish I could live it all over again. Hell, I’m still living it and I already miss it.
To close this, I want to leave you with a silly but sincere bit of advice:
There’s always help. Try your family, try your coworkers, try your friends, try the internet, try tutorials, try ChatGPT, try vitamins, try medicine, try therapy, try books, try art, try sports—try whatever you need to improve whatever you need. But never, ever give up.
Vroom vroom!
Here comes the train! 🚅
Also, feel free to add me! I love checking out people’s profiles, seeing what everyone’s playing, and growing my friends list.
Thanks for reading :)
