Either way, I don't always say "thanks" mainly because I always go to S. Gifts on my phone.

It takes me so long just to write it because of how awful my keyboard is. :/

However, I do write comments if it's a game I really want (or like if I already have it).

I always try to say thank you, just that sometimes it seems to me that gifters do not care/regard these comments as spam (I think actually only technomancer88 always says he welcomes the comments). Of course, that doesn't diminish my being thankful, but how much of a thoughtful comment should that be? A long statement that noone will notice/answer anyway? Just a "ty"? A polite "thanks"? Anyway I'll keep posting as I do. By the way, what's up with all these apparently-deliberate-mistakes and Skyrim? Another very-obscure puzzle?

After a while, a constant single "Thank you" comment on every giveaway just seemed really superficial and hollow to me, so I stopped bothering.
If I ever won a giveaway I'd give them a thank you which would feel more personal to me.

I also read a thread a while back of a generous benefactor who said they never read any of their comments at all, purely because they'd just all be "Thank you."

Honestly, I rarely bother with the thanks on public giveaways. I always give thanks on others, though. Hell, in the case of, say, puzzle giveaways, I leave thanks even if it turns out to be something I already have or that I'm not interested in.

As far as I can tell, saying "thank you" (which, as you indicate, takes a few seconds) doesn't automatically turn you from a greedy bastard into... anything else.

However, since it obviously means a lot to the OP, I'll be sure to say thanks in the future.
