The view count (691) on Garek - "Leper" is criminally low: https://youtu.be/7KzYi0XwxZo&list=PLhsY59_jVoVO5czw0m_eooAp6brUsy-ZT

A black metal album with a captivating medieval atmosphere - the black plague, the inquisition, damnation on every corner... Very impressive, musically and technically, for a one-man band. Labelled "progressive" but that just means long, tightly composed tracks with occasional breaks in this case, nothing hard to swallow.

Here's some Japanese shoegaze on the very contemplative side. Ideal if most shoegaze seems a bit hard rock to you.

RiLF - Ferris Wheel

In fact it can feel close to Arvo Pärt like classical music, such as this wonderful piece:

Arvo Pärt - Spiegel im Spiegel

I am listening a lot of Eskimo Callboy currently after discovering them, especially the songs below. It is kinda an addiction at this point.

Rebuilding my personal GTA San Andreas playlist before re-playing. Didn't like the radio stations back then.

Really original metal album with the obvious instrumentation of trombone, trumpet and drums (only). Feel the intensity of the out-of-control frostfrozen double brass mercilessly hammering the message home on top of grimdark brass beats. This gains with repeated listens rather than goes stale so does not seem gimmicky to me. In my mind, the second best recent metal crossover after the amazing Botanist.

I can't stop listening to the Super Arranged version of The Boy Who Had Wings from Ys III. Seriously, listen to it once. It's really amazing.

Mark Hollis' The Colour of Spring is an all-time favorite, and Sponge's Plowed is also fantastic. The entire Goldfish album is also beautiful. It just sucks that it's so difficult to find online. Several songs from it used to be free to download from Last.fm, but they removed them.
